 NYC Dept. of Consumer Affairs Office of Financial Empowerment Tax Assistance:

Prepare your taxes online at the library with help from a tax assistant January 23-April 18.

To use this FREE program, you must:

  • earn less than $60,000 (per tax return)
  • have a valid e-mail address and basic computer skills
  • bring all your relevant tax documents to the site

BPL branches offering free AARP tax preparation for low and middle income taxpayers:

All AARP free tax preparation sites operate on a first come, first served basis. February 1 - April 17, 2017. For a list of documents you may need to bring, visit the AARP website.

To file taxes electronically on a married-filing-joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.
