Councilman Erik Dilan Allocates $1 Million Towards Brooklyn Public Library Renovations

Arlington Library Receives $1,000,000 to Alleviate Replacement Costs

Brooklyn, NY – District 37 Councilman Erik Dilan has appropriated $1 million in funds for renovations at the Arlington Library in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. The funds will replace the Arlington branch boiler, providing patrons with much-needed upgrades and saving the Library from additional costly repairs.

“The Library is grateful for this generous allocation from Councilman Dilan and for his continued support of Brooklyn Public Library. The funds will ensure that the Cypress Hills community has the space they deserve, and that the Library can put its resources toward providing the best programing and services possible,” said Linda E. Johnson, President & CEO of Brooklyn Public Library.

“The city’s capital budget process provides opportunities to correct deficiencies in our city’s aging infrastructure. The Arlington Library is a heavily used facility that is long overdue for much needed repairs. The community deserves this improvement,” said Council Member Erik Martin Dilan, who represents the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn.

The Arlington boiler project will include energy efficient gas and new Boiler Management System (BMS) controls. Additionally, the funds will cover any needed piping instillation, concrete padding, or any affected partitions. The Brooklyn Public Library may have to temporarily close due to noise disruptions, but other work will be done while the branch is open and not in need of heating.
