Through the years BPL has granted its staff the opportunity to learn a variety of Professional skills. They’ve really supported my career development in a way that few companies do. Plus, for me there is no greater feeling than being in a position to help someone, whether it¹s a patron or staff member. I believe we're all customers of each other in one way or another.

The best part about working at Brooklyn Public Library is the people—from the children I’m seeing grow up at our story times, to my coworkers, who are incredibly supportive and fun. BPL also really invests in its employees. The Library helped pay for my graduate school tuition and continues to support me in attending trainings and conferences. BPL is a place where you can grow and learn over the years, where you can pursue your interests and truly have a fulfilling career.

I love working for BPL because I got to put what I learned from library school into practice, and I am thrilled for the opportunities to create programs that draw in new patrons who in turn reinvigorate the fundraising activities of the Friends Group. I enjoy the great support from my colleagues and other departments as well as outside community agencies. In sum, I am doing creative things the benefits the community and many stakeholders... and having fun while doing it!
