Growing Dollars and Sense for Teens
Where Teens Can Learn to Become Financially Empowered
Are you getting ready to open your first bank account, get a credit card, or make your first big purchase? Jumping into financial responsibility can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. Brooklyn Public Library offers various resources and a series of free workshops to help you get smart about your finances.
Join one of the local teen virtual investment clubs to learn about investing. Under a TVIC Leader, you'll discuss stocks and help build a mock portfolio with a group of other teens. Meetings will be held biweekly.
Attend one or more of our stand-alone workshops geared towards helping teens understand money and budgeting. New workhops will be added periodically.
Watch videos from FINRA, other Smart Investing@your library grantees, and selected videos from BPL's Growing Dollar and $ense programs.
Explore the world of money and finance on your own. Subjects include banking basics, smart shopping, credit & debit, and more.
Check out the Teen Virtual Investing Club Blog to see some of the things that TVICs did last year and what they are working on this year.
