ComALERT’s goal is to reduce recidivism by providing formerly incarcerated people with the tools and support they need to remain drug-free, crime-free, and employed. In addition to drug counseling and treatment, many ComALERT clients will receive a referral to, and preferential placement in, the DOE Fund's “Ready, Willing, & Able - DAY” Program which provides transitional employment in Brooklyn. In addition to receiving meals and a weekly stipend of $200 cash for manual labor jobs for up to nine consecutive months, the program provides the group support and reinforcement needed by the clients to maintain sobriety and a crime free life. ComALERT provides weekly individual and group counseling, as well as random drug testing, to reinforce the “Ready, Willing, & Able - DAY” zero-tolerance policy. CUNY Catch Program
CUNY Catch helps young people ages 16 to 24 to transition back into the community. CUNY Catch operates at both detention facilities and on college campuses. Once enrolled in college, the program offers career development and job search services as well as substance abuse treatment referrals.
The College Initiative

This is a wonderful reentry program designed to "assist men and women who want to begin or continue their college education after prison." The College Initiative (CI) provides one-on-one support throughout the college entrance experience, financial aid, pre-college prep and several other critical tutoring and support services along the way.
