Yes, This is Stitched Artwork by Margaret Cusack
Central Library, 2nd floor Balcony Cases
Featuring original samplers, soft sculpture, quilted hangings, props, and portraits.
This exhibition includes a variety of images that I have created over the past 40 years: appliquéd portraits, embroidered samplers, quilted artworks—even voodoo dolls!
My artwork is best described as “realism created with stitchery and fabric.” Since 1972, my stitched artworks have been used primarily as illustrations and large-scale hangings, but I have also created stitched props, quilts, pillows and portraits that have been used in children’s books, posters, advertisements and magazines. My book, Picture Your World in Appliqué, includes galleries of my stitched artwork, as well as step-by-step projects that explain my techniques.
Margaret Cusack graduated with a BFA cum laude from Pratt Institute in 1968 and worked as a graphic designer for several years. She later began her career as an illustrator creating stitched artworks that have been featured in many galleries, books and magazines.
