Steve Keene's Brooklyn Experience, curated by Dan Efram/Tractor Beam
Central Library, Grand Lobby
Brooklyn-based painter/multimedia artist and Brooklyn Public Library's 2014 artist-in-residence Steve Keene brings playful music-themed pop art, as well as new works and sculptures that pay homage to Brooklyn.
This exhibition will pay homage to Brooklyn and Brooklyn Public Library, rendered in the pieces Wood Sculpture and Tattooed Plywood.
A library is like a train station for the mind. It is the point from which you can travel anywhere, everywhere. There is something so energizing about both the familiar and the unknown all at your fingertips waiting for new connections to be made. I try to include this sense of unlimited possibility in my work, to create an endless painting that has no boundaries and that becomes an environment for people to participate in.
