Mixing It Up with Hervé Tullet

October 2, 2014 - February 1, 2015
Central Library, Grand Lobby
To celebrate the publication of his latest book, Mix It Up, Paris-based artist Hervé Tullet premiers an exuberant exhibition that explores the inspiration for his many beloved children’s books from Blop to the groundbreaking, international phenomenon Press Here.

I’ve always wanted to make my own version of Leo Lionni’s Little Blue and Little Yellow.  This book was for me a trigger, a real possibility of expression and invention. All that with only two unhappy circles of color ripped from sheets of paper! Such creativity with such an economy of means—this was a revelation. There is a reference to this book in almost all of
my own.

This exhibit is my first opportunity to reflect on the art, artists and ideas that have influenced my books, and explore and explain what I’m communicating to my readers.

Join us at the Central Library's Grand Lobby on Sunday, October 19, at 10 am for Art & Play with Hervé Tullet.  Grab a paintbrush and let your creativity flow! Author and artist Hervé Tullet invites kids and families to explore color and shape as they collaborate to create a giant mural. It’s all in the spirit of his eagerly anticipated new book, Mix It Up.
For ages 3 and up. Registration is now closed. This event is filled to capacity.
