Fashion Illustration: A Contemporary Look by Don Oehl
Central Library, Grand Lobby
After moving to New York City in 1995, the vibrant mix of haute couture, downtown street fashion and graffiti greatly influenced my sense of style. I draw inspiration from illustrators Rene Gruau, John Luke Eastman and Kenneth Paul Block.
Don Oehl grew up in Chicago, and studied drawing and painting at the École du Louvre in Paris. After studying fashion illustration at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Oehl worked with design companies on point-of-sale and window displays for clients like Aveda and Bergdorf Goodman. Oehl debuted his first solo show at clic Gallery in SoHo in 2011 and his client list includes Bulgari, Chanel, Bloomingdales and Target.
