Yoga & Poetry: Armando Jaramillo Yoga & Poetry: Armando Jaramillo Yoga & Poetry: Armando Jaramillo BPL Presents

Please bring your own yoga mat. Doors open at 9:00 am. Class starts at 9:30 am sharp.

Imagine starting your yoga class with the wise words of your instructor, who calls out a pose or two, and the pose is followed by a poem read live by a its author. Yoga & Poetry is a new initiative of the Brooklyn Public Library that features yoga instruction paired with the added joy of live poetry. The series will curate major living poets, who will appear onsite to read their work. This combination creates an atmosphere of wakefulness that makes yoga and poetry the quintessential way to do both.

This month's poet will be Armando Jaramillo. Previously featured poets include Yusef Komunyakaa and Ana Božičević.

Armando Jaramillo Garcia was born in Colombia and raised in New York City. He graduated from Aviation High School and attended Hunter College. His first book of poems, The Portable Man, was published by Prelude Books in 2017. His works has appeared in Boston Review, Pinwheel, TYPO, Prelude, Reality Beach and others.
