A lecture and conversation inspired by Frederick Douglass’s ideas about the role of images for American progress and the power of aesthetics for the invention of race.

Following the lecture and discussion, class participants are invited to an informal wrap-up of the session where they can get to know one another, exchange information and meet Professor Lewis.
